The Road to Kamchatka: Kloster Irsee, Germany

From July 4 through July 8, 2001, a group of 9 met at Kloster Irsee in Germany, co-located with the EuroPLoP conference, to brainstorm some ideas for moving the Feyerabend Project forward. At this workshop the following participated:

Results

• On July 5, Richard Gabriel led a deconstruction exercise. The goals of the brainstorm are to uncover hidden assumptions and devise new ways to move forward. The starting assumption is that you’re bothered by the status quo or existing solutions, but you can’t quite articulate what’s wrong.
• Along the way we noticed some contrasts to science.
• On July 6, Daniel May led an exercise in which we imagined a device for helping each of us do whatever it is we do in our lives.
